Design of the Citroën Xantia:
Pure elegance, sturdiness and power
The new Xantia saloon and estate are
recognisable immediately. Bigger than before, and especially more imposing,
sturdier and more flowing lines. The new exterior styling significantly
increases the attraction of the Xantia.
Its new-look front is characteristics of the
new Citroën range spirit. It has been entirely re-designed: its
triple fluted bonnet incorporates a more pronounced grille, embellished
with more imposing chevrons highlighted by the almond light units, giving it a
much stronger look. The impression of sturdiness and feline power is
highlighted by the 15 inch wheels, and the wide wheel arches and
track previously only available on the more powerful Xantia
models.
The new larger and less angular bumpers with
more wrap-around skirts complete the re-style. They incorporate a wide
three-part contact area in order to reduce repair costs in case of
damage.
The crystal type light units and body colour
matched number plate panel highlight and emphasise the elegance of the rear of
the vehicle.
On the Exclusive the bumpers and side
mouldings are body colour matched. At the front, the "high tech" fog lamps are
incorporated into the bumpers.
Refinement, comfort and practicality
On the inside, the Xantia offers passengers
space, both in the front and the rear.
The new Xantia interior has evolved,
affording more comfort and practicality in a warm and harmonious environment.
Everything has been done to give a more opulent and refined comfort. In the
interior, the new dashboard, more rounded and "thicker", inspires a sensation
of refinement, comfort and safety. This elegance combines with the ergonomics
and a degree of practicality worthy of a luxury saloon. All the controls fall
naturally to hand for added comfort and safety.
The seat and door panel trims, in velour or
optional leather, pander to the senses with their soft and harmonious lines.
The curve of the seats reassures the occupants in a cosseted and refined
atmosphere. In the Exclusive model, the dashboard and door panels receive a
wood trim finish.
The new Xantia interior also offers a
large number of storage points and practical details to make life on the inside
more pleasant and easier.
The new door panels incorporate a
tidy pocket to take A4 format documents at the front and a tidy pocket
hidden by the armrest. The top provides a 2-position adjustable armrest for
added comfort.
The rear door panels also have tidy trays,
and there are tidy pockets in the backs of the front seats.
Fitting of a transponder-operated immobiliser
makes the space occupied previously by the keypad available for an additional
tidy tray on the centre console.
The new height-adjustable steering wheel
houses an air bag and the horn control.
The windscreen has a ticket holder for a car
park or toll ticket.
The Xantia is equipped with a new electronic instrument cluster
with such new functions as a door opening warning (which also works when the
ignition is turned off), liquid crystal distance counters (total, two partial,
and timed maintenance indicator showing the remaining distance to the next
service) or showing the automatic gearbox mode selected, with the selector
positions and the program selected.
The centre of the dashboard is equipped with
a digital clock showing the date and exterior temperature (with an alert signal
when the temperature drops to 3° or under).
