UTILITIES: the essential role of Citroen

The Type H From the launch of the Type A 10CV in 1919, Andre Citroen has the foresight to develop a version referred to as a "delivery car".

He is convinced of the commercial potential of utility vehicles, and continues to develop them. The TUB in 1939, and the Type H produced between 1948 and 1981, heralded the modern light utility vehicle with front drive wheels, an all-steel monocoque one-box body, a flat floor with low load sill, a sliding door, easy access and an advanced driver's station.

This formula, which is still widely used today, was applied by Citroen for the first time, at a time when its competitors were still busy reinforcing their passenger car chassis in an effort to increase payload.
