Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in
September 1997, the five door Citroen Xsara is now on sale in Australia
With its elegant styling, robust design, and spacious layout, the
Xsara possesses a strength of character rarely seen in saloons from the
small car segment.
The 5-door range is based on the SX trim level and three
powerplants... 1.8 litre eight valve engine with 74kW, the 1.8 litre 16
valve at 81kW, and the 2.0 litre 16V at 97.4 KwkW.
The Xsara Coupé is planned to make its
debut in the last quarter of 1999,
and
the range will include a sports version, the VTS, powered by the 2.0 litre
16V engine developing 120 kW, as well as the 2.0 litre 16V automatic. More
than an entertaining sports car... it's an authentic five-seater family
Coupé with the comfort of a large saloon.
The Xsara is a perfect fit with the range of
Citroën saloons. It measures 4.17m and it is one of the most spacious
cars in its segment with a vast boot of 408 litres.
Designed to meet the expectations of European customers the Citroën
Xsara offers a range of equipment worthy of saloons at the top end of the
market. Highly functional, with attention to detail rarely seen on this
type of vehicle, it sets new standards in sophistication.
The following items are standard on all models...
Power steering -- height and reach adjustable steering wheel -- theft protection by code integrated in the ignition key (transponder) -- central locking -- height adjustable interior rear view mirror -- climate control air conditioning with pollen and particle filter -- and all seat belts are fitted with inertia reels and are height adjustable at sash guide level.
Xsara
also provides generous stowage space, and all those "little extras"
that simplify everyday use, such as...
tell-tale child locks on the rear doors -- an alarm warning that the key is in the ignition -- doors opening at three angles -- a function to isolate the boot and glovebox -- an indicator showing the distance to be covered to the next service -- HF dual-function remote control -- a boot lid gas strut -- phased on/off control of ceiling lights -- storage of the rear parcel shelf in the boot lid -- and driver's footrest.
Equipped with Citroen's self-steering
rear axle
The Xsara is designed to bring the driver and passengers enhanced
driving pleasure and comfort, combined with an exceptional
