CITROËN TAKES OPEN ROUND LEAD IN THE FRENCH RALLY
CHAMPIONSHIP

The 1999 French Rally Championship got underway
on 19 and 20 March with the Lyons-Charbonnières-Rhône rally. The
race took place on generally dry roads with a few wet, slippery
patches.
Citroën's Philippe Bugalski and Jean-Paul
Chiaroni won an impressive victory in their Xsara Kit Car. And Citroën's
second team - Patrick Magaud and Guylène Brun - clinched second
place.
Philippe Bugalski dominated the field, winning
14 timed stages. Patrick Magaud won the 15th stage.
Both Xsara Kit Cars completed the rally without
any technical problems. This result is proof positive of the Xsara's
high-performance capabilities and reliability and testifies to the hard work
put in by Citroën Sport during the off-season.
Philippe Bugalski said that the Xsara was easy
to drive and that he felt very comfortable at the wheel.
Total, Michelin, Magneti-Marelli, Valeo, Facom,
OZ, AIS and Citroën Financing are Citroën's partners in this
success.
