CITROEN AUSTRALIA SUPPORTING FRENCH ART

Citroen Australia is providing support for two art exhibitions at Sydney's SOHO Galleries, with works by the French artist, Marie Paule Fath, and French-Australian Guy Detot from South Australia.

"We are very pleased to be able to provide support for these events," says Miles Williams, General Manager of Citroen Australia. "Citroen has a long and prestigious involvement in design and the arts in Europe, so it is natural that we should extend this to Australia. Citroen owners are renowned for their interest, involvement and knowledge of all areas of the arts, from design through visual arts to the moving image and these sponsorships provide an ideal platform to maintain contact with our customers."

Opening at Sydney's SOHO Galleries on 23 March 1999, the exhibitions of the work of Marie Paule Fath and Guy Detot will provide two unique presentations that will offer diversity to the mix of art works available in Australia.

Marie Paule Fath workMarie Paule Fath is a figurative painter who lives in the south of France, who through her work metamorphoses reality to illustrate the dreams, fear and hopes of those both with us and departed. Her style is both beautiful and masterful, with oil, collage and ink providing her work with a very personal and special depth.

Guy Detot work French born, Guy Detot has lived in Australia since 1982. Although he has always had a strong affinity for sculpture, he is also a professional dancer and his work reveals a deep understanding of movement, rhythm, lyricism and the flow of nature. The Australian influence in his work is clear: He uses as his sculptural medium the red gum wood that dominates his South Australian home. His work celebrates the nude human form as well as animal forms, such as horses.

The SOHO Galleries are at the corner of Crown and Cathedral Streets, Sydney. Full details of the exhibition are available at the gallery's web site, http://www.sohogalleries.net.
