CITROEN AT THE GENEVA INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW

The New Citroen Berlingo is launched

New Citroen Berlingo Citroen has launched the new Berlingo car and van, now equipped with a sliding side door. Developed in response to demand from customers, this major upgrade underlines the versatile, practical and user friendly qualities of the Berlingo concept.

The Citroen Xsara HDi launched

New Xsara HDi At the Geneva International Motor Show Citroen presented for the first time the new Citroen Xsara HDi in sedan, Coupe and wagon variants. The new version of Citroen's top-selling small car is equipped with a high pressure direct injection diesel engine using common rail technology, making it the most sophisticated oil-burner in its class. The HDi engine boosts fuel economy by 21 per cent and cuts exhaust emissions by an equally impressive 20 per cent. With a capacity of 1997 cc the engine produces 66 kW at 4000 rpm, while more than 185 Nm of torque is available from 1500 to 3250 rpm, a combination that provides excellent driving characteristics. The Xsara HDi offers an staggering average fuel consumption of just 5.2 litres per 100 km.

Production version of the Citroën Xsara Picasso

Production version of Citroen Xsara Picasso Geneva saw the production version of the Citroën Xsara Picasso unveiled. The Xsara-based people mover was first seen at the Paris Motor Show last year and is now due to go into production late this year. Expect an Australian launch in 2000.

Citroen C3 on display

New Citroen C3 Following its debut at the Paris Motor Show, Citroen has confirmed that the innovative small car, the Citroen C3 will go into production, with a projected launch date of 2001. It is a practical, friendly and versatile small car that combines Citroen's renowned flair with new technology features.

The Citroen Dynavolt

The Geneva Motor Show saw the display of a car that could be ideal for Australian conditions. The Citroen Dynavolt The Berlingo Dynavolt uses an electric motor and batteries around town to reduce pollution and noise to an absolute minimum, but out on the open road, to give it range performance beyond the ability of electric propulsion, it uses an LPG-powered engine. It also represents another facet of Citroen's rapidly developing LPG programme which sees dual fuel versions of the Xantia, Xsara, Berlingo and Saxo now available in France.
