XANTIA ACTIVA TURBO CT - Active Roll
Control System (ARCS) in action
Xantia Activa features an
Active Roll Control System (ARCS) and becomes the first production car in the
world to eliminate body roll when cornering. The new ARCS has been achieved
with a simple development of Citroën's proven computer controlled
Hydractive suspension system, which automatically adjusts both spring and
damper rates to suit changing driving conditions.

As Xantia Activa enters
a bend, the front and rear anti-roll bars firm up, almost instantaneously, to
help counteract early body roll, the first of two phases which make up the
active suspension. As Xantia continues through the bend, if body roll
reaches just half a degree, the second phase of the ARCS is activated and two
hydraulic rams expand or contract to keep the car level on the road.
This ARCS complements the Xantia Activa's Hydractive II suspension system,
which maintains the ride quality in all driving conditions, even when the
active suspension is operating.
